Warren tops Franklin in non-region match

The Lady Dragons’ tennis team improved to 3-2 on the season with a 4-1 victory over the Franklin Knights on Wednesday afternoon.

Picking up singles wins for Warren were seniors Alexis Vavala by a score of 8-1 over Emily Lamanski and Phoebe Nelson with an 8-6 win over Cierra Barefoot. Megan Waterfield dropped a 4-8 decision to Mimi Terman.

“Our singles players are playing better but still a bit too cautiously,” said Lady Dragons’ coach Jeff Bartsch.

Warren’s doubles pairs refused to relinquish a game as seniors Kim Parroccini and Maria Miller won at first doubles, 8-0, while sophomores Morgan Lemmon and Rachel Cecco defeated Rachel and Krista Anderson 8-0. “Our doubles pairs worked well today,” added Bartsch.

The Lady Dragons will return to action Saturday morning at Olean.
