Robert L. Wenzel, 86, of Russell, PA, died following a brief illness on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Warren General Hospital.
Robert was born July 24, 1928 in Warren, PA, the son of the late Luther and late Lulu Wenzel. A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of the Warren High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Robert was a farmer for a time and later worked in the Machine Shop at the Warren State Hospital for twenty six years, from which he retired. He was a member of the American Legion, the Jamestown Moose Club, and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. He enjoyed cutting wood, maintaining his home and property, and enjoyed NASCAR. He liked cats, especially his cat Nikki.
Robert is survived by his wife, Dorothy M.(Dougherty) Wenzel, whom he married in April, 1980; two step daughters, Sharon Jones of N. Warren, PA, Barbara Cobb and husband Thomas of Warren, PA; two step sons, Daniel Gray and wife Roxanne of Cherry Grove, PA, and Louis Gray of Merritt Island, FL; a son, Robert Wenzel Jr. of Tidioute, PA; and a daughter, Michelle Wenzel of Russell, PA; several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Roth; a son, Timothy Wenzel; and a brother, Elton “Bud” Wenzel.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
