Warren boys take 2nd at Cross Creek

OIL CITY-Andrew Gignac and Nate Sandberg each shot rounds of 74 to tie for second place while Warren went on to finish second as a team in Thursday’s Region 3 megamatch at Cross Creek Golf Course.

Meadville’s Zack Ford shot a 71 to lead the field and the Bulldogs increased their lead in the season standings by finishing the day eight strokes ahead of Warren.

Anthony Deppas wasn’t far behind his Dragon teammates with a round of 78, Tanner Stanz shot an 87, Nick Giambrone shot a 90, and freshman Jake McCullugh finished at 98.

“My goal for our team is always to break 320,” said Warren coach Dan Passmore. “That means your top four guys are averaging under 80, so 313 is a really good score. 305 is just better.”

Oil City took third on their home course with a score of 369 and Conneaut shot a 385 to round out the team standings.

The next Region 3 megamatch will be hosted by Conneaut Tuesday at Oakland Beach Golf Course.
