Reunion this weekend

Warren Area High School Class of 1964 will have its 50-year reunion this weekend, starting today. Today’s schedule includes a tour of Beaty-Warren Middle School at 1 p.m. and a tour of Warren Area High School at 2:30 p.m. Members of the class plan to attend the Quinn Smith exhibit at the Warren Public Library beginning at 8 p.m., and a mixer will be held at the Conewango Club from 6 to 11 p.m. (wich a cash bar). Members of the Classes of 1963 and 1965 are invited.

On Saturday, there will be kayaking on the Allegheny River at 9:30 a.m. (meet at Point Park), golfing at the Conewango Valley Country Club at 10 a.m. and hiking at Hearts Content at 10 a.m. (meet in the back parking lot of Warren Holiday Inn). A social gathering is planned at the Eagles Club, Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren, at 1 p.m. with a “Brigadoon Jam” at 2 p.m. A dinner dance also will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Conewango Valley Country Club.

Sunday, a buffet brunch is planned at 11 a.m. at Jackson Valley Country Club.

Pancakes at The Crossing

A free pancake and sausage breakfast will be served at The Crossing, 350 Pennsylvania Ave. W., Warren, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30. Everyone is welcome.

Atkins reunion held

The 54th annual C. L. Atkins reunion was held Aug. 9 at Larimer Park, Russell, with 37 attending. The oldest was Audrey Cable. Jeffrey Owen traveled farthest. Ashley Stearns was youngest. Reports were given; Debbie Tuller gave the treasurer’s report. Janis Wall gave the history report; there were two marriages and five deaths in 2013.

Next year’s reunion will be in care of the Henrietta Decker family and the Blackmer families.
