WCCS sweeps East Forest in season opener

MARIENVILLE-Warren County Christian School opened the 2014 volleyball season on Tuesday with a three-set sweep of East Forest, 25-8, 25-7, and 25-12.

“Overall I’d say it went pretty well,” said WCCS coach Monica Kerr. “We had a few rotation issues, but that’s normal early in the season.”

Jess Lauffenburger had 14 service points and eight aces, Alyssa Kerr had eight service points and five kills, Whitney Poindexter had 13 service points, and Caitlin McCall had seven service points.

The Lady Lions’ home opener is Thursday against Tidioute Charter.

WCCS also claimed a win in the one-set junior varsity contest, 25-20. Allison Weidner had nine service points.
