Amy Sue (Matthews) Haehn, 50, of Kennedy, N.Y., and formerly of Sugar Grove, Pa., passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Amy was born August 29, 1963 in Kittanning, Pa., a daughter to late William Matthews and Nelda (Norbeck) Matthews, who survives her of Sugar Grove, Pa. She was a cheerleader and a graduate of Eisenhower High School. Amy was a member of a dart league for a number of years. She loved being outside gardening and planting. Amy enjoyed crocheting, cooking her special “Tuna Pie” and also, trucking throughout the United States with Tom. Her dogs, ChinCho, Moon, Ruby and Elly were a large part of her life and there was always that occasionally trip to the casino and her syfy movies that made her smile. Amy’s most absolute joy was her children. Her strength, determination and will to live touched many people and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her mother, Amy is survived by her longtime companion, Thomas Larson of Kennedy, N.Y.; her children, Matthew and Harley Haehn, both of Kennedy, N.Y.; a brother, Mark (Deb) Matthews of Columbus, Pa. and his children, Ashley Matthews, Heather (Kevin) Dorsey, William Matthews, Ryan Matthews; a sister, Beth Matthews of Sugar Grove, Pa. and her children, Elliott Ward and Taylor Ward; a brother, Todd Matthews of Sugar Grove, Pa. and his children, Holly Matthews and TJ Matthews.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by an infant brother, Timothy Matthews and her maternal grandmother, Margaret Norbeck.
Friends will be received on Thursday, August, 28, 2014 at the InterFaith Chapel, 33 Main Drive, North Warren, Pa., from 5:007:00 PM. A memorial service will be held there at 7:00 PM with the Rev. Tim Phelps, pastor of Chautauqua County Hospice, officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
