Lady Dragons again 3rd in region match
NORTH EAST-The Lady Dragons notched another third place finish with a team score of 207 Monday at Lake View Country Club in North East.
Megan Smoulder finished in a four-way tie for second place with Grace Brzozowski of Mercyhurst Prep and Annie Ciacchini and Lia Fatica of Villa Maria, each shooting a round of 44. Smoulder and Brzozowski remain tied for the best average in District 10 through four megamatches.
Michaela Redinger – an independent golfer – shot the day’s low of 42.
Rachel Wilson followed up Smoulder on the Warren scoresheet with a 50, Libby Hammond finished at 52, Katelyn Hecei shot a 61 and Clancy Fyock shot 62.
“Fast greens and a challenging course got the better of some of my girls tonight,” said Warren coach Tom Smoulder. “In fact, they were all a little bummed out about their scores. However, we still managed to pull out a third against a lot of big schools.”
Villa Maria kept its winning streak alive with a team total of 186.
McDowell bested Warren in Region 3 play with a team score of 201, and host Mercyhurst Prep finished one stroke behind the Lady Dragons at 208.
Next up for Warren is a megamatch hosted by Strong Vincent Thursday at JC Martin Golf Course.
