Ralph E. “Butch” Lord Sr., 74, of Warren, PA, passed away on Aug. 19, 2014.
Ralph was born March 20, 1940, to the late Theodore and Elizabeth (Betty) Alderman Lord. He grew up in the Oil City/Titusville area before moving to Warren. He worked at Warren State Hospital, Anderson’s Bakery, Warren Vault Co. and The National Forge from which he retired.
Over the years he was a volunteer fireman for the North Warren and Clarendon VFD, and was a member of and held officers positions in many clubs around the area including the Moose, American Legion and The Eagle’s Club. He will always be remembered for his giving spirit even when he was sick, everything from mowing a sick neighbor’s yard to maintaining the Little League fields and concession stand. His final gift was the gift of sight to two people through organ donation.
We will all miss his story telling especially on stormy nights when he would tell the most awesome ghost stories. He also loved to cook, travel, fish, golf, hike, ride motorcycles, and sail. His words of advice and strange pearls of wisdom that made us all laugh will be remembered forever.
He is survived by a sister Ruth (Roger) Bentley of Jamestown, NY. Three daughters Heidi (Rick) Christensen, Cindy Zaffino and Alisa (Daniel) Knowlton and two sons Butch Lord and Michael (Annemarie) Lord. Also 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Theodore Lord.
A celebration of life service will be held from 2pm 6pm Saturday, August 30th at The Farrah Grotto (Hemlock Rd, Warren).
Please bring photos of Ralph to be scanned and returned immediately as well as stories to share with his friends and loved ones. In lieu of flowers the family is collecting donations for The Heart Association at the service or recommend donations to a charity of choice.
