Dragons 3rd at home tournament

Warren finished third at its own Blueberry Classic Golf Invitational Wednesday at Blueberry Hill Golf Course.

“They look good,” said Warren coach Dan Passmore. “We know we’re strong in our top two and can compete with anybody.”

Warren’s No. 1, Nate Sandberg, was medalist on Wednesday, shooting a 1-under-par 71.

“I know this is the lowest he’s shot (with Passmore as head coach),” Passmore said. Sandberg’s 71 included a double bogey on hole 16.

Andrew Gignac was third overall, and second for Warren, with his 75.

“Anthony Deppas (82) is very solid and I always expect him to be around 78 to 82,” said Passmore, “and we have quite a few people who could be among that fourth golfer that could step up.”

Warren Blue finished at 409, losing the tiebreaker to second-place Titusville (409). Meadville, the top team at Tuesday’s megamatch at Conneaut Lake, was the top team here with a 393.
