Emerson J. Spicer, 89, of Lindell Road, Russell, PA, passed away Tuesday, August 19th, 2014, at UPMC Hamot in Erie, PA. He was born in Wellsville, NY, on September 16, 1924, the son of the late Emerson H and Nina (Wagnar) Spicer. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police in Washington, D.C. during WW II. Emerson was head custodian at Eisenhower High School for 30 years, a lifetime dairy farmer, worked on the township roads plowing snow for many years, was a supervisor of Farmington Twp., and voluntered with the Little League Baseball for four years
He is survived by his wife, Janie (Edwards) Spicer whom he married 65 years ago on Jan 6, 1949;4 sons, Virgil (Paticia) Spicer of Russell, PA, Ralph (Stacey) Spicer of Warren, PA, Gail (Cindy) Spicer of Russell, PA, and Kim (Kimberly) Spicer of Russell, PA; 2 sisters, Bobby Ekey of Akeley, PA, and Erma Thelin of Warren; 1 Brother, Frances Spicer of Russell, PA; 5 granchildren, Hillary, Adriane, Gregory , Shania and Haley Spicer; 6 great grandchildren, Jayda and Isaac Spicer, Connor and Kylie Fehlman and Annie and Tray Carrington; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brother, Asa Spicer and Duane Spicer.
Friends are invited to call on Saturday, August 23, 2014 from 10 2 pm at McKinney Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Inc., 54 West Main Street in Youngsville where a celebration of life service will be held at 2 pm.
