Over a dozen Warren County ballplayers, most that make up the Kinzua Sluggers 11U travel baseball team, and their families, took a two-day trip to Williamsport Thursday and Friday to watch the Little League World Series and got more than they bargained for. While Christen Borger snapped a photo of the boys on Thursday, so did the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, and published the photo smack dab on the front page of Friday’s edition. The boys, often mistaken for a team playing in the World Series while in Williamsport, included, in front, Wyatt Wilson, and, second row, Matt DeSimone, Hunter Loomis, Alex Borger, Tony Batiste, James Swanson, Jacob DeSimone, Jared Bupp, Ryan Rafalski, Ben Berdine, Micah Passmore, Ben Salapek, Brady Berdine, Drew Swanson, Ethan Wilson, and Tyler Gustafson. They ended up down the third-base line for Pennsylvania’s female pitcher in the spotlite, Mo’Ne Davis, featured on page C-6, who shut out Tennessee and gave Passmore her autograph after the gem. Bupp was given an “Australia” jersey.
