Julia Marie Verdot, 68, of Warren went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2014, at Warren General Hospital. Julia was born June 11, 1946, in Warren, PA, the daughter of the late C. Wayne and Nellie Schatzle Barhight.
Julia obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Penn State University. She was amazed with the youth and the power of learning. She later worked as a floral designer in various locations and locally at Ekey Floral. Floral designing kept her aware of the beauty in the world around us, and she always made an effort to beautify everything she could. Julia played an instrumental part in the flower designs at the Warren Apartments.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and was involved in the Women’s Bible Study Group and other activities. Her strong faith in God sustained her through many difficult times and gave her the strength to offer encouragement and support to others. Julia enjoyed music and was a member of the Warren Civic Orchestra for many years. She was very active at the Allegheny Community Center and loved all of the people and activities. She received joy in preparing food for others.
She is survived by two grandsons, Dylan and Tyler Verdot; two sisters, Nancy Clavin (companion John McGarry) and Patricia Esterbrook (husband Craig), both from Warren, PA; and one niece, Trish Ewalt (husband Matthew) and Connor Ewalt (great nephew), Jamestown, NY.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Marie Verdot; and her son, Stephen Wayne Verdot.
Friends will be received in the Wesley Parlor at Grace Untied Methodist Church, 501 Penn. Ave., E., Warren, PA, on Saturday, August 16, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time, a memorial service will be held there with Rev. Rich Pearson, pastor, officiating.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Grace United Methodist Church, The Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark Street, Warren, PA 16365, or Paws Along the River, 212 Elm Street, Warren, PA 16365.
