Gerald “Jerry” S. Gray, 81, of Starbrick, passed away Sunday morning, August 10, 2014, at his residence.
Jerry was born April 29, 1933, in Warren, Pa., a son to the late Raymond and Mabel (Langworthy) Gray. He served in the U.S. Army at Ft. Benning as a helicopter mechanic and then went to work at the National Forge for 40 years as a Crane Repairman, retiring from there in 1995. Jerry was a member of the Youngsville American Legion and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and bowling for the Forge league and in his younger years, riding his motorcycle.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joyce (Redfield) Gray, whom he married on September 26, 1953 at Ft. Still in Oklahoma; his children, Debra (Chuck) Eastman of Pittsfield, Jeff Gray and his companion, Jill, of Warren and Jody Gray of Starbrick; his siblings, Thomas (Linda) Gray of Starbrick and Judy (James) English of Starbrick; his grandchildren, Ryan (Amy) Honhart, Emily (Chuck) Honhart, Kylee Gray, Dillon Gray and Madison Gray; his greatgrandchildren, Lincoln Gray, Killian Gray and Declan Gray and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by three brothers, William Gray, Ronald Gray and Dennis Gray.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Nelson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, in Youngsville, from 111 PM. A memorial service will then be held at 1PM with the Rev. Donald Wells, pastor of the Starbrick Community Church, officiating. Members of the Youngsville American Legion Honor Guard will provide full military honors at the funeral home.
