Israel, Gaza

Dear editor,

Regarding the Readers Forum article titled ‘Israel, Gaza’ in the July 29th edition of the Times Observer; the writer mentioned that he has been doing research on the ‘illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine’ for almost 30 years. Then, he should be well aware that the land of Israel has the only deed in history where the boundaries are laid out by God (Ezekiel 47:15-20).

He should also be aware that the land was promised to Abraham and his descendants (those of Isaac, not Ishmael) over 2,500 years ago in Genesis 15:1821; and that the ‘Promised Land’ came into existence two millennia before the first recorded use of any word resembling ‘Palestine’ (which appears to be around 500 B.C.)

And he should also be aware that just as the old Chiffon margarine commercial warned us that ‘It’s not nice to fool Mother Nature’, the Bible warns us that God won’t deal lightly with those who try to divide up ‘His’ land (Joel 3:1-2). So who is really ‘illegally occupying Gaza’?

There are a few other things that the person who penned the article (and ALL the rest of us) should know as well, one of them being the fact that God will ‘Bless those who bless thee (Israel) and curse those who curse thee’ (Numbers 24). We should know and be aware of these things, and once upon a time, many Americans werebut it’s clearly evident that we no longer are.
