Blood drive

on Monday

The Warren Chapter of the American Red Cross will conduct a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, at First Presbyterian Church on Market Street.

All blood types are needed. New and existing donors are encouraged to attend.

First Friday

Visit downtown Warren for the next “First Friday” on Aug. 1. Playing for Music in the Park will be the classic country music sounds of “Rustic Ramblers.” Stop into Authors Books and Music to listen to the great music of Paul and Joan Papalia Eisert. Stroll on down to Allegheny River Fly Fishing to listen to the country sounds of Sean Patrick McGraw. A Civil War book giveaway will be held in the Allegheny Antiques and Book shop, and you can enter to win a DVD copy of the movie “Gettysburg” or Union or Confederate youth Civil War soldier hats from Allegheny Cyclery. Check out the red, white and blue sale window at Virg-Ann Flower and Gift Shop and be sure to stop by and get in on some great sales at Phase II. Head into the Second Avenue Exchange for their end of summer bash where you’ll enjoy special discounts for customers along with snacks and crafts and more. The Dan Van Gogh flower shop will kick off its anniversary sale. Make your reservation to dine at Vita Bella Italian Cafe which will feature a “Civil War Era” tasting menu that evening. An open house reception for guest author Jacqueline Hurlbut will be held at the Warren Historical Society from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and The Festival of the Arts will be held at the Struthers Library Theatre beginning at 7:30 p.m. All events are taking place in downtown Warren.
