Commissioners seek cost of paving at courthouse
The Warren County Courthouse could see some repaving work done.
Commissioner John Eggleston said the county is getting quotes for paving in the parking lot at the county courthouse and have already received one for $66,000 to do the whole lot.
“We don’t want to spend $66,000 to redo the parking lot,” he said.
He said the commissioners will continue to contact three to four more contractors for the work.
Eggleston also said he will attend the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania annual conference held in Lancaster from Sunday, Aug. 3 to Wednesday, Aug. 6. He said the conference is “always very productive” and is a good chance to network with members of the association. Tom Wolf, the Democratic candidate for governor, will close the conference with a speech.
District Justice Cynthia Lindemuth’s former office in Youngsville has been shown a couple of times and bids are still being accepted until Monday, Aug. 11. Lindemuth’s Tidioute office was closed and consolidated into Youngsville in 2011.
The rent the county is paying for a three-office suite in the Youngsville Post Office costs less than the heat and utilities to run the county-owned building next door, Eggleston said in 2011.
“We’re hoping to get that back on the tax rolls,” Eggleston said.
The salary board approved three position requests including moving a part-time corrections officer to full time; approving a lieutenant position in the county jail; and a position in the district attorney’s office.
Warren County Jail Deputy Warden Greg Deivert said the lieutenant position will be a non-union position that will be in charge of security and be in command when the warden and deputy warden are not available.
