Women celebrate Fourth

Warren Christian Women’s Connection (CWC) held a July “Swing Your Partner” lunch recently. Favors were red, white and blue cards centered with American flag pins. The resource table carried out the patriotic theme.

Speaker Sharon Root of Brockport, N.Y., and her siblings were foster children. They were told they were special because they were chosen. Her parents took the children to church and Sunday school. They were like “birth” parents. In spite of feeling a great love and security in the family, Sharon said she was a loner. She overheard adults ask her parents, “Why do you put so much time into these children?” She said that was extremely hurtful. Sharon married and had three girls, but still had a deep knowing feeling. She had learned that sin is spiritual death, but Jesus conquered our sins. Sharon became active in CWC activities. When the Christian women needed a hostess for a Friendship (Stonecroft) Bible study, she said yes. Sharon said, “These studies are so different! The Bible becomes real and alive. Jesus took away all my fears and insecurities. Jesus can give us the confidence and strength to do these tasks.”

A special feature and music were presented by Circle 8 Square Dancers. Caller Don Yosten of Erie was accompanied by his wife, Karen. He said modern, western and country-style square dancing are popular. Dancers included John and Olivia Sechriest, Bob and Donna Culbertson, Doug and Ronnieann Walters and Linda Keverline and Lynne Fristhe. Guests were invited to dance.

Chairperson Birdie Crandall told about the Connection’s small group gatherings, prayer coffee on the first Tuesday of each month, and small group Bible studies.

The Connection meets on the second Tuesday of each month for lunch. All women are welcome to this Christian, non-denominational gathering. There are no dues. The next lunch will be Tuesday, Aug. 12. For reservations or information, call 723-4098.
