Masterson earns Fellowship standing

John W. Masterson, formerly of Warren, senior resident director, first vice president and Wealth Management advisor with Merrill Lynch, has been awarded Fellowship standing in the International Society of Certified Employee Benefit Specialists for a one-year period.

To earn this distinction, he successfully completed the Society’s 2014 National Continuing Education Examination. The course and the examination were developed by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, and cover recent changes and developments in employee benefits.

Masterson received the designation of CEBS in 1990 from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School. He achieved the designation of Certified Financial Planner (CFP) in 2003 from the CFP Board of Standards, Inc, and received the designation of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor from the College of Financial Planning in 2009.

Masterson is a member of the adjunct faculty of Mercyhurst University and teaches college-accredited classes on retirement plans. He is also a member of the Estate Planning Council of Erie, the Society of Financial Service Professionals and the United Way of Erie County board of directors.
