Stoddard reunion held in Frewsburg
FREWSBURG – The 29th annual reunion of the Stoddard families and descendants was held July 19 at the Willis Hale Memorial Town Park in Frewsburg.
The park is on the 68 acre site of the former John Stoddard Farm, which occupied the space during the early 1800s and early 1900s.
Fifty-two members attended coming from areas in and around Warren, including Bradford, Corry, Russell, Sheffield, Sugar Grove, Tidoute and Youngsville, with the ones coming the longest distance from Columbus, Ind.
Vernon Stoddard of Clarendon, Pa., conducted the business meeting along with Traci Stoddard of Youngsville, Pa., acting as secretary/treasurer.
The day included a get-together of all the members interested in past history and geneology information taking the Stoddard line back to 1500 with English roots, a review of the book written and published by Vernon Stoddard called “Stoddard History.”
A tureen dinner was served with a variety of food as each family member brought a dish to pass. Also held was an auction of white elephant packages brought by each family and a 50-50 giveaway, both of which provides money for next year’s reunion. The 50-50 giveaway winner was Bernard Stoddard of Corry.
The 30th annual reunion will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the same Willis Hale Park in Frewsburg. Officers will be Vernon Stoddard of Clarendon as president, Dawn Stoddard of Sheffield as secretary and Carrie Stoddard Gardner of Clarendon as treasurer.
