Riding on sidewalk

Dear editor:

Thank you to the young lady for apologizing to my 80-year-old mother, who was exiting her downtown apartment building, for almost running into her with a bicycle as she was speedily riding on the sidewalk.

If my mother had been hit, at her age, it would take a very long time to recover, if at all.

My wife has also almost been hit by bicyclists riding on the sidewalk.

I know the police have important things to do; but what is more important than another human life – or loss thereof? You may be able to afford to pay my mother or wife’s hospital bills, but I cannot afford to lose either one of them.

Craig Myers

P.S. I also ride a bicycle.
