Vivian Bailey

Vivian L. Bailey, 90, formerly of Spring Creek, Pa., died on Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Park Avenue Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Meadville, Pa.

She was born on July 31, 1923, in Eldred Township, Pa., a daughter of the late A. Leigh and Arla Faye Morris Smith.

Vivian was raised and educated in Eldred Township. She attended Trim Corners Elementary School and graduated from Spartansburg High School in 1943. Over the years, she helped on the Cobb Corners farm with her husband. Vivian had starting farming in 1930. Her main priority was raising and caring for her family.

She was a former member of Faith Evangelical Church in Corry and a current member of Ashbury United Methodist Church in Waterford, Pa. Vivian enjoyed cooking, gardening, water coloring and writing poetry. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Vivian was preceded in death in September 1983, by her husband, Bruce M. Bailey, whom she married on September 30, 1942; a son Larry Bailey; and a sister, Arla Blystone.

Vivian is survived by two sons, Russell L. Bailey and his wife Elaine of Bloomfield, Ind., and Donald G. Bailey and his wife Deborah of Waterford, Pa.; a sister Catherine Blystone and her husband Elmer of Brokenstraw, Pa.; and a brother, Orren Smith and his wife Theresa of Spartansbug, Pa.

She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Mark, Matthew, Aaron, Corey, Todd and Luke Bailey, and Michelle Abell; 16 greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Saturday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 p.m., and attend the funeral service there on Monday at 11 a.m. Rev. James Moffett, Pastor of Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Corry, Pa., will officiate.

Burial will be in East Branch Cemetery, Spartansburg, Pa.
