Thomas D. Ressler, 91 of Rt. 337, Tidioute, passed away Friday July 18, 2014 at his residence.
He was born February 12, 1923 in Corry, a son of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Costello) Ressler. He served in the US Marines during WW II. He was employed as a personnel analyst at the Warren State Hospital for 25 years, retiring from there in 1983. Tom was a member of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church in Tidioute, the Knights of Columbus Chapter 934, the Tidioute VFW, the Struthers Hose Co. in Warren, and the Elder Statesmen golf league in Hydetown. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Elsie McKean Ressler, whom he married July 3, 1974 in Sheffield, a step daughter, Kelley McKean of Tidioute, 3 sons, Thomas S. (Gretchen) Ressler of Whitehall, Montana, Terrance (Janice) Ressler of Warren and Timothy (Mickie) Ressler of Madison, Florida, a sister Rita (George) Downey of Corry, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Mary Costello Printz and a brother Martin Ressler.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 47 p.m. at the James M. Higgins Funeral Home, 3 Elm St. in Tidioute. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. John’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Members of the Tidioute VFW Honor Guard will provide full military honors.
