Class picnic planned

Warren Area High School Class of 1965 will have a picnic at noon Saturday, July 19, at Betts Park River Walk Pavilion beside the tennis courts (follow the signs). Participants should take lawn chairs, a gift to raffle, a dish to share and their own beverages. Meat will be provided. Class of 1966 also is welcome.

Class to lunch

Warren Area High School Class of 1964 will meet for lunch at 11 a.m. Monday, July 21, at the Conewango Club, Market St., Warren. All members of the class and their spouses or significant others are welcome.

Fun at Golden Living

Golden Living- Kinzua on Water St., Warren, will celebrate 50 years of service today, Friday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be free hot dogs, cotton candy, sno-cones and popcorn. Free activities for children of all ages will include games and prizes, a petting zoo, a dunking booth and musical entertainment. Everyone is welcome to attend and celebrate.

4-H science program

Warren County 4-H will sponsor a science evening program for youths age 5 and older to learn more about 4-H opportunities and plant science. It will be held at the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center, 207 Second Ave., Warren, on Tuesday, July 29, at 6 p.m. The topic will be plant science. Youths will learn what plants need to grow and will be making seed necklaces and Soil Sam’s. Trail work planned

On Saturday, July 26, the Allegheny Trail Crew (ATC) will work on the Tanbark Trail. Participants will meet at the Hearts Content Campgrounds at 8 a.m. (look for the ATC signs). All volunteers are encouraged to come help work on the trail. Take gloves, lunch and drink. For more information, contact Keith W, Klos at cloudy09@verizon.net or call 484-7420.

Hearts Content Campground is located 15 miles southwest of Warren. From the Mohawk exit of U.S. Route 6, take Pleasant Drive (State Route 3005/337) south for 11 miles. At the hard curve, turn left onto a gravel road (State Route 3005); go south for four miles to Hearts Content. Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) workers constructed the campground, picnic area, and pavilion in 1936. An exhibit of a hand-hewed log is adjacent to the picnic area.

No caregivers meeting

There will be no meeting in July of the Caregivers Support Group. The next meeting will be Monday, Aug. 18, at noon at Grace United Methodist Church, Wesley Parlor. Participants should take a bag lunch, if desired. All caregivers (past and present), family members of those affected by dementia, and anyone interested in the group are invited to attend this meeting. Walk to End Alzheimer’s committee to meet

The July planning committee meeting for the 2014 Warren County Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease will be held at noon on Thursday, July 24, at the Harbor Church, 135 Conewango Ave. Lunch will provided. All persons interested in the walk should attend this meeting. Teams, individuals to walk and raise funds, as well as volunteers, are needed for Walk Day, Sept. 27.
