Adult prom planned

“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” a 1980s prom for women 18 years and older, will be held on Friday, Aug. 22, from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Spartansburg Fire Hall. Benefiting the Spartansburg Educational Foundation for the creation of the Spartansburg Community Charter School, the prom will feature music from the 1980s, a prom queen pageant, big hair contest, and other cool surprises from the decade of neon and preppies. Business and individual sponsors for the “Star Wall” and VIP tables are needed. A limited number of tickets are available and may be purchased in advance for $25 from Lacey Merrill at (814) 654-7969, Slocums’ General Store, or the Dutch Treat Restaurant in Spartansburg.

Polka Sunday

The Slovenian Polka Boosters will dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 20, at the Big Trout Inn, Weedville. The Culkar & Peters Band of Cleveland, Ohio, will provide music for all types of dancing. For information, call Paul Leofsky at 563-7516.

Warren High School Class of 1941 will have lunch at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

Win at bridge

Winners in Monday evening duplicate bridge game at the YMCA were Hal and Mary Conarro, first with 51.75; Beth Howe and Carol Lake, second with 45; and Matt Oram and Doug Megill, third with 40.
