Paul Leonard Witte, 74, passed away suddenly Friday evening July 11, 2014.
Paul was born June 29, 1940 in Dayton, OH to Paul and Eleanor (Christine) Witte. Paul was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was the much loved and respected leader of his large family. Paul, along with his wife Janet, lovingly raised nine children Karen Brown (Leo), Linda Mahaffee (Mac), Mike (Cathy), Dave (Stacy), Chris (Cherie), Lisa Waronsky (Frank), Steve (Amy), Mark (Mandy) and Scott (Heather), and was the proud grandpa of 21 grandchildren. Paul has two brothers Philip and Chris, both of Nantucket, MA. Paul and Janet lived in many places throughout their lives, raising their family in Warren, PA before moving to Vermilion, OH. Janet and Paul celebrated their 50th anniversary May 30, 2014.
Paul was educated at the University of Dayton before receiving his master’s degree in chemical engineering from Arizona State University. In addition to a career in engineering and management, Paul pursued several entrepreneurial endeavors.
Paul was a fun loving and hardworking man. He is remembered for selfsacrifice, a caring nature and a great sense of humor. He was an enthusiastic supporter of his grandchildren’s activities, a connoisseur of good BBQ and loved competing in many games including cards, puzzles and bowling. Most of all, Paul was proud of his family.
Paul’s family invites you to the visitation to be held Wednesday July 16 from 37 at the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst, OH. The family will also receive friends on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Parish , 731 Exchange Street, Vermilion, Ohio 44089. Interment will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, 2602 Bogart Road, Huron, OH.
