DuBois tops Warren in Boys Juniors final

DUBOIS – The Warren Boys Juniors’ run in the District 10 North/South Tournament came to an end with a 13-0 loss at the hands of DuBois on Friday.

Warren finishes postseason play with a record of 3-2 with both losses coming to DuBois, which heads to next week’s Section 1 Tournament at a perfect 4-0.

Things didn’t go Warren’s way from the start as DuBois, playing as the away team after losing the coin toss, broke out with four runs in the top of the first. The hosts went on to score one in the second inning, three in the fourth, one in the fifth, and four in the sixth to put the mercy rule into effect.

Austyn Cummings and Matt Leonard had the only hits for Warren.

“We hit seven or eight at ’em balls,” said Warren Boys Juniors coach Don Cummings. “They were solid ropes but (the DuBois players) never had to move. We just couldn’t any to fall today.”

The Section 1 Tournament is set to begin Wednesday, July 16 in Franklin.
