Robert “Bob” W. John-son, 77, of Jonesboro, Ga., formerly of Warren, passed away after an extended ill-ness on April 23 while sur-rounded by his family’s love.
Bob was born on August 16, 1936 to August and Olive (Thompson) Johnson. He grew up in Warren and was a 1954 graduate of Warren Area High School. Bob was happily married to his wife, Sandra (Yoxthei-mer), until her passing on May 19, 1992. As a young man, Bob worked at Ander-son Super Market while liv-ing in Warren. Upon his move to Georgia, he pro-ceeded to work for Winn Dixie pursuing a career in food sales and merchandis-ing until his retirement.
Bob had a great sense of humor and many friends with whom he was always happy to sit and share a sto-ry or two. Bob was an avid and well read reader, how-ever his real passion was word play. He was a master of the game Scrabble; sel-dom could anyone win games when competing with him. Bob had several simultaneous games of “Words With Friends” go-ing on with his Facebook buddies at all times. He was quite competitive and took great pride in winning his beloved Scrabble word games.
Bob was a loving father to his son, Robert Johnson, Jr., and daughter Dawn Jacobs, and her spouse Jef-frey. He had three grand-sons: Christopher, Nicholas and Benjamin Jacobs. Bob is also survived by his sis-ter Norma Jespersen, her spouse Larry, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased a brother, Donald Johnson.
Family and friends of Robert Johnson are wel-come to join us on Sunday, July 13 at Chapman State Park in Clarendon, Pavilion #4, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. We will be celebrating Robert’s life while sharing a meal and fond memories of Bob.
