Kenyan pastor to speak at Pleasant

Pleasant Community Church (PCC) will host Kenyan Pastor John Kiruga at a casual tureen dinner on Thursday, July 17, beginning at 5:30 p.m. PCC extends an invitation to members of the community to join them for dinner and fellowship, to be followed by Pastor John’s sharing info about Kenya.

John Kiruga is a pastor, missionary and church planter in and around the Nairobi area.

Currently he is in Colorado and next week will be at Denver Seminary doing a course on peace making as a mission of God.

He is a commissioned pastor/missionary in Kenya, planting churches where there is no church or there is a religious struggle. He is married to Freshia Wanjiru and they have two sons, Ian and Lenny. He studied theology at Africa International University, and is pursuing a master of arts degree in organizational leadership there, scheduled to finish in 2016.

Orchard Covenant Church in Springfield, Mass., sews uniforms for children in orphanage so they can attend school (not permitted in school without uniforms). Nancy Ebner, pastor of Orchard Covenant Church has been to Kenya several times. Her church has a few Kenyans in it, many from the same village, Muhudu, north of Lake Victoria. A new Covenant church has just been planted there, Orchard’s daughter church, that John Kiruga is mentoring. They feed about 60 village orphans, give them school uniforms, and pay some of their school fees.
