Free Family Movie Night Friday
The community is invited to a free Family Movie Night this Friday, July 11, at 7 p.m. at the Warren Alliance Church, 278 Kinzua Rd. The featured movie will be “The Lego Movie.” There will be free popcorn and prizes. The purpose of family movie night is to provide an affordable evening of entertainment to families in our community. Films will be chosen that have a high family rating.
Old Home Day in Torpedo July 19
The 78th Torpedo Old Home Day will be held at Torpedo Community Church on Saturday, July 19, starting at 11 a.m. A smorgasbord style lunch will be at noon in the grove. Bring a dish to share, table service and lawn chairs. In case of rain the lunch will be served in the recreation room of the church. Coffee and soft drinks will be provided. Participants will meet and visit with friends. Photo albums of Torpedo, Garland and old home days past will be available for refreshing memories. After lunch, games will be available for children and a white elephant sale will be held. Those who are interested in participating should take a wrapped item to be auctioned off to support the Torpedo Old Home Day expenses.
Book fair set
Warren Public Library will host a Scholastic Book Fair July 14-July 19 in the Slater Room on the third floor. Proceeds will go towards materials for the Children’s Department. Fair hours are: July 14-17, 10:00 a.m.-7:30 p.m.; July 18, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; July 19, 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. This is a great time to purchase birthday or early Christmas gifts for children in your life.
Geronimo to visit
Geronimo Stilton, the mouse character from the popular book series Geronimo Stilton will visit the Warren Public Library on July 15 at 10:30 a.m. in the Slater Room next to the Scholastic Book Fair. There will be mouse stories, songs, and crackers with cheese. This program is geared towards ages 4-8, but all are welcome. Preregistration is appreciated. Harry Potter Bingo
Local character Electra City will challenge children’s knowledge of Harry Potter trivia with a bingo game on Tuesday, July 15, at 1 p.m. in the Slater Room of the Warren Public Library next to the Scholastic Book Fair. Attendees can also expect some prizes and science experiments tossed in. This program is for ages 8-14. Preregistration appreciated. Sea Life Jingo
Local character Electra City will challenge younger children ages 4-8 with a bingo game that involves sea creatures on Thursday, July 17, at 10:30 a.m. in the Warren Public Library’s Slater Room next to the Scholastic Book Fair. Children will match the pictures, so reading is not necessary. There will also be a few stories, songs, and prizes. Preregistration appreciated. Professional juggler Dave Fultz will show off his talents with magic, storytelling, balloon sculpture and juggling on Wednesday, July 23, at 1 p.m. in the Slater Room of the Warren Public Library.
