Former Major Leaguer featured at baseball clinic in Jamestown

The Jamestown Tigers Travel Baseball Club and Secrets of Champions will hold a youth baseball clinic for players ages 5-15 Sunday, July 13, at the Martin Road Sports Complex in Jamestown, N.Y.

The camp will feature instruction from former Major League infielder Nick Green, who spent time with the Atlanta Braves, Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees, Seattle Mariners, Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Miami Marlins.

Green played for the Jamestown Jammers in 1999, which was the team’s first year of affiliation with the Braves.

Dr. George Carlo will be on hand to offer advice as the founder of the Secrets of Champions sports performance programs. Carlo is in his sixth season as the Detroit Tigers’ Performance Coach, and has published more than 200 papers and four books in the field of health sciences.

Also providing instruction will be head coach of the Jamestown Tigers and Frewsburg High School assistant Joe Spoto as well as Jordan Basile, former University of Buffalo assistant and the all-time hits leader at SUNY Fredonia.

The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a parent session from noon to 1 p.m. Campers will receive a free t-shirt and lunch.
