DUI Task Force
4th of July stats
Officers from Conewango Township, Youngsville, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, City of Warren and Warren County Probation participated with the Warren County District Attorney’s Warren County DUI Task Force and conducted a DUI check point from 10:30 p.m. through 3:30 a.m. from July 4 into the morning of July 5 on Route 62 between Follett Run and Jackson Run roads.
EmergyCare provided an on-site blood draw and the Warren County 911 Communications Center provided on-site communications.
During the checkpoint, 464 vehicles passed through both north and south. Seventeen traffic citations were issued for various violations along with six written warnings. Five drivers were taken into the testing area for further evaluation of suspected DUI. Two individuals were identified as being on probation and/or parole and violating the conditions of their probation/parole. Of those two violators, one was taken into custody and remanded to the Warren County Jail.
A passenger in a vehicle stopped at the checkpoint was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and was charged on July 7. Another driver was found in possession of several small baggies of cocaine following a search warrant obtained for his vehicle. That driver was taken into custody and charged on July 8.
On Saturday, July 12, there will be a benefit at the North Warren Dairy Queen. There will be a big band event to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) and Saint Vincent’s Children’s Hospital in Erie. Two guitars will be raffled off. There will be a 50/50 raffle and open-mic karaoke.
Checks need to be made out to the Children’s Miracle Network and mailed to the North Warren Dairy Queen, 1067 Market St., Warren.
