John A. “Bus” Hennessy, 80, of Russell, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2014. Bus was born October 2, 1933, at his home in Warren, Pa. He is the son of the late Joseph L. and Erna M. Sedon Hennessy.
After serving in the Air Force during the Korean War, Bus began his career at the United Refining Company in 1955. He started as a maintenance laborer, and shortly thereafter began working in operations. In 1966, he became the supervisor of operations, and ultimately retired as Assistant Vice President in 1993. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and spending time with his family. Bus also enjoyed dining and the staff at both the Plaza and the Peppermill.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rose Ann Sorensen Hennessy, whom he married September 22, 1956; one son, Joseph Hennessy, and wife, Ethel; one daughter, Eileen Swanson, and husband, Randy; one sister, Margaret Sorensen, and husband, Leroy; six grandchildren, Erin Sudul, Sara Hoehn, Rev. Matt Slater, John C. Hennessy, Lisa Ristau and Amy Swanson; also six greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Florence Sharpe, Helen Johnson, Mary Glans and Lois Albaugh; and one brother, William Hennessy.
Friends will be received at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Wednesday, July 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
