Big inning dooms Post 658 against Northwest
Youngsville Post 658 couldn’t overcome a five-run top of the fifth by Corry Northwest Savings Bank as they dropped their second game in as many days with a 7-3 loss to the Bankers on Tuesday.
Corry managed a run in the top of the first before Youngsville was able to tie the game in the second. Bryce Sherrard doubled and came around to score on an RBI single by Levi Hendrickson for Post 658’s first run of the game.
Kyle Hunt singled home Jake Marino to give Youngsville a lead in the third before the Bankers’ big inning.
Youngsville took one run back in the bottom of the fifth when Tanner Humphrey walked and later scored on Hunt’s fielder’s choice.
The three hits by Hunt, Sherrard, and Hendrickson was all Youngsville could manage offensively. Joe Sonntag had three hits to lead Northwest Savings Bank.
The two teams will meet again on Thursday back at Youngsville’s Legion Field. The game was originally scheduled to be hosted by Corry, but had to be moved due to a scheduling conflict at The Ballpark in Columbus.
