BOYS MAJORS

Bradford 11, Warren Nationals 0

The Warren Nationals Boys Majors All-Star team suffered an 11-0 defeat at the hands of Bradford on Thursday at Betts Jackson Field.

Bradford’s Caleb Nuzzo and Tyler Gigliotti combined to no-hit Warren in the four-inning game. Nuzzo pitched the game’s first two innings, and struck out five batters while walking three. Gigliotti pitched the final two frames, striking out four while walking one batter.

Two of Warren’s baserunners came in the top of the first inning when James Swanson and Jared Bupp each walked. Ben Berdine drew walk in the second inning, and Swanson walked again in the third to give Warren their only four baserunners of the game.

Bradford’s offense struck multiple times in each of their three at-bats. Nuzzo did a fair share of the damage, hitting a grand slam in the second inning and a three-run homer in the third. Nuzzo finished 3-for-3 with seven runs batted in, and Peyton Manion also homered.

Despite the loss, the Nationals were strong defensively. Swanson and Bupp made consecutive diving catches in the third, and Alex Borger made several strong plays at shortstop.

Warren will return to action on Friday, facing Brockway at Brockway. Bradford advances to play the Warren Americans on Sunday in Bradford.
