Henry Blick Jr.
Henry Frederick “Herk” Blick Jr., 84, of Warren, PA, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at the Rouse Home.
Henry was born August 4, 1929, in Warren, PA, the son of the late Henry F. Blick and Anna Amelia Swanson Blick. A lifelong Warren resident, he was a 1947 graduate of Warren High School. He was employed at National Fuel Gas for a year, and then went to the Cincinnati College of Embalming (Mortuary Science) in 1951. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and stationed in Panama. During that time, he came home and married Mary Louise Hibner on September 11, 1952, at the Calvary Baptist Church in Warren, PA. They returned to Panama until he was discharged from the Army.
He worked for the Lutz Vermilyea Funeral Home in Warren until he went into partnership with Wendell F. Peterson in 1963, forming the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, with Wendell becoming a silent partner shortly thereafter. In 1999, he sold the funeral home to the late Alan. P. Crone. After his retirement, he and his wife spent several winters in Englewood, FL. He loved to golf with friends and hunt with his boys and grandchildren, and play games with his family.
Henry was a life long member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and a wonderful Christian man. He loved to help people through their sadness. As an active part of the Warren community, he was involved with the Warren Lions Club and was a past president. He had received the high honor of the Melvine Jones Fellow for Dedicated Humanitarian Services, Lions Club International Foundation. He was also a member of the United Commercial Travelers, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, the American Legion Post 135, the Conewango Club of Warren, and served on many committees and boards.
Surviving are his loving wife of sixtytwo years, Mary L. Hibner Blick; his six children, David Blick, and his wife, Julie Clark Blick, Youngsville, PA, Dennis Blick of New Milford, CT, Nancy Dobson, and husband, Warren Dobson, of Eagle River, AK, Kenneth Blick, and wife, Kim Blick, of Crescent City, FL, Henry F. Blick III (Fred), of Akeley, PA, and Sally Page, and husband, Dan Page, of Carthage, NC; he is also survived by his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, Ben and Liz Blick, and their children, Naomi, Judah, Leyna; Randi Blick, Nathaniel Blick, Josiah Blick and Christian Blick, of Youngsville, PA; Jamie Blick Andrews, and husband, Jason Andrews, and their son, Sawyer, of Southbury, CT; Jessica Dobson Hamlin, and husband, Mark Hamlin, and their children, Kenley Ella and Blake, of Anchorage, AK; Craig Dobson, and son, Liam, of Grand Junction, CO; Ryan Clark, of Carthage, NC; His stepgrandchildren, Kristen Page Privette, and husband, Matt Privette, and their children, Alarah and Kai of Southport, NC; Amber Page and daughter Emerald of Carthage, NC; Danielle Page Heich, and husband, Tyler, and their daughter, Kalli of Southern Pines, NC; and Daniel Page of Carthage,NC; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Blick Donham, and brotherinlaw Robert Donham; his motherinlaw and fatherinlaw, Ella and William Hibner; brotherinlaw and sisterinlaw; Harold and Pat Hibner; sisterinlaw and brotherinlaw, Kay Hibner Fellows and Lloyd Fellows; daughterinlaw, Cheryl Dry Blick.
During his last days, he did not know people but always had a wonderful smile. Henry loved his Lord and Savior, his family, especially his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He will be missed so very much by all who loved him.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA, 16365 on Saturday, June 28, from 5 8 pm, and at the Calvary Baptist Church, 445 Conewango Ave., Warren, on Sunday, June 29, for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, Warren County Rouse Home, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Warren.
