Youngsville falls to 3-2 on Legion season

It’s been a wild start to the 2014 Senior American Legion Baseball season.

On Friday, Youngsville Post 658 traveled to Columbus for a game against Corry Northwest Savings Bank. With the score tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, Corry’s Pat Brown singled and stole second before advancing to third on Dusty Silvis’ sac bunt. Dillon Silvis drove in his brother with an infield base hit to give the Bankers a 4-3 win.

With the loss, Youngsville is now 3-2 on the season.

Post 658 got on the board with three runs in the sixth inning when Kyle Hunt singled home Jake Marino, Aaron Hoover scored on a wild pitch, and Hunt came in on a sacrifice fly from Bryce Sherrard.

Hunt finished with two hits on the day to lead the Post 658 offense. Hoover took the loss on the mound after tossing all seven innings and recording four strikeouts.

The same teams will be back at it on Tuesday, this time at Youngsville’s Davis Street Field.
