Ike’s Vincent Region Player of the Year
After leading his team to a District 10 Class A Championship and an appearance in the state playoffs, Eisenhower sophomore Casey Vincent was named Region 4 Player of the Year as voted on by the region’s coaches.
Vincent, who throws right-handed and bats left, posted a 7-1 record on the mound with a 0.69 earned run average in eight starts. He also led the Knights offensively with a .424 batting average and two home runs.
Vincent was joined on Region 4’s first team by teammate Kyle Hunt (.418), with whom he split duties at shortstop, and Youngsville outfielder Bryce Sherrard.
Sherrard hit .356 as a junior for the Eagles this season.
Warren had 11 representatives on the Region 7 all-star list including first-teamers Jason Stanton at first base, Ryan Gustafson in the outfield, Derek Reagle at designated hitter, and Tanner Stanz at pitcher.
Gustafson led all regular starters with a .439 average and a .522 on base percentage while driving in 17 runs for the Dragons. Reagle hit .410 with 10 RBI and Stanon finished with a .271 average and 10 RBI.
On the mound, Stanz had a team-high 44 strikeouts in 30 1/3 innings while walking just eight. The junior righty finished with a record of 4-1 and a 1.85 ERA.
Stanz also received second-team honors at shortstop as did catcher Todd Fasenmyer, second baseman Tanner Teconchuk, third baseman Matt Hultquist, outfielder Austin Schwanke, and pitcher/utility player Collin Fantaskey.
Stanz batted .317 with 14 RBI, Fasenmyer hit .306, Teconchuk had an average of .362 with 10 RBI and a .474 on base percentage, Hultquist hit .292 with 15 RBI and two home runs, and Schwanke drove in a team-high 18 runs while batting .369 with a .431 on base percentage.
Fantaskey had a 0.68 earned run average with a record of four wins and one loss on the mound for the Dragons. Offensively, the senior hit .368 and stole 26 bases.
Youngsville had three players named to the second team in Region 4 with catcher Jake Marino, first baseman Tyler Lehman and pitcher/utility player Aaron Hoover all earning postseason honors.
Marino led the Eagles with a .543 average and 10 RBI in the leadoff spot. Hoover drove in 16 runs with an average of .362, and Lehman hit .283 with a home run and seven RBI.
Harbor Creek senior Isaac Mattson won both Pitcher of the Year and Player of the Year in Region 7 while Franklin’s Zach Guth won Pitcher of the Year in Region 4. Here is the complete list of region all-stars:
