Youngsville uses late rally to top Post 135 in Sr. Legion

Youngsville Post 658 used a late rally to top Post 135, 8-5, Thursday at Old Legion Field.

With the score tied 5-5 in the top of the seventh inning, Ryan Williams gave Post 658 the lead with a two-RBI single and Bryce Sherrard followed with a base knock to make it an 8-5 advantage.

Post 135 threatened with two runners on in the bottom of the inning, but a fly ball back to pitcher Logan Bellardo resulted in a game-ending double play when the runner on second broke for third on contact.

Bellardo worked all seven innings for Youngsville and Jimmy Vile went the distance for Post 135.

Bellardo also scored Youngsville’s first run when he came around on an Aaron Hoover single in the first inning. Mark Reiff tied the game for Post 135 in the third before Youngsville answered with an RBIs by Williams, Levi Hendrickson, and Bellardo in the top of the fourth. Hendrickson also added a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.

Tristan Davis and Todd Fasenmyer had back-to-back RBI singles in the bottom of the fourth for Post 135, and Tanner Stanz doubled home two more in the sixth.

Williams was 3-for-4 at the plate for Post 658, who travels to Columbus for a makeup game against Corry Northwest Savings Bank on Friday.

Post 135 will make up the final innings of last week’s game against Blair before playing a full seven Monday at Old Legion Field.

Blair’s game against Corry was postponed on Thursday.

A makeup date has not yet been announced.
