Puppets at library
Ventriloquist Bruce Weaver and his zany team of scientists return to Warren to present “Superfluous Scientific Trivia” on Thursday, June 26, 10:30 a.m. in the Slater Room on the third floor. The program will include ventriloquism, magic, singing, lots of laughs and fun science topics as Bruce and his pals discover ways to explore science at the library.
Weaver and his friends have been entertaining at libraries, schools, churches, fairs, and Christmas parties for more than 30 years. And, for more than 30 years he has been trying to control his mischievous little sidekicks. But it’s all to no avail. Edgar, Chester Hound, Aunt Gabby, and the rest of the gang always seem to steal the show with their magic, singing and wit.
Each year Weaver and his friends use the summer reading theme chosen by the Collaborative Summer Library Program. Their performance stresses the enjoyment and importance of reading as well as the value of using the resources of our public libraries. Shows include four to six characters that best fit into the year’s theme with a fast-paced blend of ventriloquism, magic, singing and audience participation.
This program is open to the public and to summer camps. Preregistration is appreciated, especially for groups of six or more. Sign the registration form located in the Children’s Department next to the staff computer, or leave a message for Children’s Librarian Susan Slater at 723-4650. All ages are welcome.
