Free Bike Rodeo

The Warren Alliance Church will host a free Bike Rodeo on Friday, June 20. Children are invited for free, hands-on bike riding activities to teach and promote bike safety. Members of Bike and Build will do a safety check, discuss road safety and lead obstacle course competitions for the children. Participants should take their own bike and helmet to participate. Warren Alliance Church is located at 278 Kinzua Rd. Bike and Build is an organization that organizes service-oriented cycling trips for young adults and benefits affordable housing. The group stopping in Warren is travelling from Providence Rhode Island to Seattle, Wash.

Car wash Friday

The Jefferson DeFrees classrooms, Lions and Cubs, will have a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, June 20, at Auto Zone in North Warren. Donations will be accepted. Proceeds will be used for field trips.

Movie Monday

Monday Night Movies at the Warren Public Library will continue June 23. This free event will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Slater Room on the third floor of the library. Complimentary popcorn will be available. This week’s PG-13 rated, 90 minute film stars Evan Rachel Wood, Scott Speedman, J.K. Simmons and Treat Williams. A pariah playboy (Scott Speedman) falls for a sheltered beauty (Evan Rachel Wood) who charms his family while accompanying him to his brother’s wedding in this romance from director Andrew Fleming. Call the library at 723-4650 for the exact title of this and other movies in this series as the library’s movie license does not permit listing the titles of movies outside the library.

Based on a Book

“Based on a Book: Books Made into Movies” is a movie series that is being held in conjunction with the Teen/Tween Summer Reading Program. Adults are also welcome to attend the movie. The film for Monday, June 23, is based on the book “Holes” by Louis Sachar. This PG rated, 118 minute film stars Shia LaBeouf, Sigourney Weaver, Jon Voight, Tim Blake Nelson, Khleo Thomas and Henry Winkler. A boy being punished for a crime he didn’t commit learns there’s more going on at a juvenile correctional facility than meets the eye in this comedy drama. The movie starts at 11:30 a.m. in the Slater Room. Either snacks or pizzas will be served.

Parkinson support

The Warren Parkinson Disease Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market St., Warren. Individuals with Parkinson Disease and their families are invited. For more information, call 757-8795.

Concert Sunday

The Jacobs Brothers from Dillsburg will present a gospel concert at Tionesta Alliance Church on Sunday, June 29, at 10:45 a.m. An offering will be received. The Jacobs Brothers have been sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through song and testimony since 1962. They have taken their ministry to thousands of people across the country for more than 50 years. God still enables them to sing nearly 200 times a year as they continue to dedicate their lives to Him and this ministry. Polka Sunday

The Slovenian Polka Boosters will have a John Berne Dance from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the Maples Inn in Crosby. Eddie Rodick of Twinsburg, Ohio, will provide music for all types of dancing. A silent auction will be held. The public is invited. For information, call Paul Leofsky at 563-7516.
