Senior Center Menu
Thursday, June 19 will be grilled cheese, tomato soup, dessert and beverages. Alternate will be salad.
Monday, June 23 will be pancakes, bacon, juice. Alternate will be scrambled eggs.
Tuesday, June 24 will be macaroni and cheese, stewed tomatoes, dessert and beverages. Alternate will be salad.
Thursday, June 26 will be Polish sausage with onions and peppers, Tater Tots, dessert and beverages. Alternate will be stuffed tomato with cottage cheese.
Monday, June 30 will be sauerkraut and kielbasa, mashed potatoes. Subject to change. Alternate of soup and sandwich.
There will be a meeting of the Holiday Lighting Committee on Wednesday, June 18 at 7 p.m. at the home of Sue Salm.
Any community member who would like to help out with the planning and decorating of the community of Tidioute should try to attend this meeting.
New ideas are always welcome.
Senior Center Activities
Thursday, June 5 was Farmers Market Vouchers Day with 84 clients signing up and receiving vouchers. Lynn Espin and her helper Jan were pleased with the turn-out.
On Monday the group voted to purchase a birthday cake for the April, May and June birthdays.
An ad was purchased for the Sports Boosters Community Birthday Calendar. They also purchased a meat grinder for use in the kitchen.
A sign-up sheet for Wednesday, June 25 for a 5 p.m. picnic at the home of Martha Walters on McCauley Hill is available. A bus will be provided.
For Father’s Day, they decided to give the fathers Pennsylvania lottery tickets.
John Flasher has resigned as supervisor, therefore, Deerfield Township is in need of a supervisor.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a township supervisor should come to the July 14 meeting at the township building at 7 p.m. or they can contact Duane Gibson at 563-7026 or Tom Kollar at 484-7333.
Flag Burning Ceremony
The Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 8803 would like to thank all who attended and participated in the Flag Burning Ceremony on Saturday, June 14.
A special thank you to Nettie Durstine and Brian Bonner for the great job they did playing taps.
Bev Stotler, patriotic instructor of the Ladies Auxiliary, read about the flag and several members of the auxiliary assisted in presenting the flags to members of the VFW Post 8803 for proper burning.
Knights of Columbus
The members of the Tidioute Knights of Columbus are selling tickets for an engraved Henry Big Boy 44 Magnum before and after Mass at St. John Church, and you can purchase them from any Knights of Columbus member.
Drawing will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the closing ceremonies for the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament.
Need not be present at the drawing to win.
Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.
The next meeting of the Knights of Columbus will be Thursday, July 10 at St. John Center. This is because of the 4th of July holiday.
Tidioute Sports Boosters would like to thank everyone who has submitted updated information for the community birthday calendar.
Also, thank you to all the businesses that purchased an ad, it was very appreciated.
If there are any last-minute changes or ads that need submitted, contact Amanda Shields at 730-3120 as soon as possible.
The order will be submitted in the next week.
Calendars will be going on sale early this fall.
Just a quick reminder that the Tidioute Bridge crossing the Allegheny River will be closed for approximately two hours on Saturday, Aug. 2 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Also Route 62 will be closed from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Plan your travels early so as not to be caught up in the delay of traffic for this event as traffic will be congested.
Special permits have been applied for and everything is set for the big event.
There will be a Media Day at the Encampment site of the WWII Reenactment on Friday, Aug. 1 from 10 a.m. to noon. This will be a special media day for all media.
The next Surplus Day, Salvation Army food commodity will be held on Monday, June 23 at Tidioute Towers from 9 to 11 a.m.
