Post 658 slugs out Sr. Legion win over Blair
Youngsville Post 658 used timely hitting and a solid pitching performance from Aaron Hoover to defeat Blair 8-3 in Senior Legion action on Monday at Davis Street’s Legion Field.
Blair struck first in the game, tallying three runs in the top of the first inning. Tanner Teconchuk scored on a wild pitch, and Carter Cerra singled home Collin Fantaskey and Matt Hultquist to give Blair a three run lead.
Blair’s lead was very brief. Logan Bellardo led off the bottom of the first inning with a triple to center, and Kyle Hunt followed with an infield single. Tyler Lehman then chased both Bellardo and Hunt home with a double to deep center field. Bryce Sherrard plated two more runs for Post 658 later in the inning when he doubled, scoring Lehman and Ryan Williams. Post 658 would score four runs in the inning and give themselves a lead they would not relinquish.
Lehman would add another RBI double in the bottom of the third, and RBI singles from Jake Marino in the fourth and Aaron Hoover in the sixth padded Post 658’s lead even further. Hoover had plenty of breathing space on the mound, surrendering only five hits while striking out seven batters.
Bellardo, Lehman, and Sherrard each had two hits for Post 658, who will return to action on Thursday when they visit Post 135. Blair’s offense was led by John White, who reached base four times, and Cerra who knocked in two runs and stole a base. Blair will also return to action on Thursday, traveling to Columbus to face Corry Northwest Savings Bank.
