The team of Myron Turfitt and Kirsten Turfitt and Ashton Ditka and Linda Ditka finished first on Friday in the Conewango Valley Country Club Couples 1 Plus 3 Tournament with a score of 62. The team of Jim Senger and Betsy Senger and Vance Lauffenburger and Michelle Lauffenburger finished second at 63.

Denny Ayers had the low gross of 35, and Al Ludwick, Walt Kaper and Larry Spencer each shot the low net of 30, on Friday in the Cable Hollow Senior Men’s Golf League.

College news

Warren Area High School graduate Hank Morrison was named a second-team 2014 ECAC Division II Baseball All-Star at first base after his sophomore season at Mercyhurst University. Morrison batted .322 with three home runs and 33 RBI in 43 games for the Lakers. He was second on the team with a .458 slugging percentage.

Morrison is currently hitting .327 and batting cleanup for the Hornell Dodgers of the 16-team New York Collegiate Baseball League.
