Clifford Cable

Clifford E. Cable, 89, lifelong resident of Cable Hollow Road, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, after a two month stay at Golden Liv-ing- Kinzua Valley. He was born on March 22, 1925, at home, in Russell, PA, the son of the late John Harold and Cecil C. Sly Cable.

Mr. Cable was a dairy farmer for many years and was employed for forty-two years as an insurance agent for the Patron’s Mutual In-surance. He had previously worked at Art Metal and Struthers Wells. During World War II, he served in the US Navy for two years on the USS Hamul as a tor-pedo man. He was a member of the Cable Hol-low Church,where he served as a trustee for many years. He once served as a Boy Scout leader. He espe-cially enjoyed family gath-erings. He also enjoyed camping, and was a member of the Kinzua Campers. He was an avid deer and elk hunter, he had taken several hunting trips to Colorado.

He is survived by two daughters, Debra A. Forbes, and husband, John, Titus-ville, PA, and Melinda J. Burke, and husband, Paul, Russell,PA; two sons, Richard A. Cable, and wife, Deborah, Frewsburg, NY and Andrew S.Cable, and wife, Jacqueline, Russell, PA; one sister, Roberta Anderson, and hus-band, Carl, Warren, PA; and one brother, Donald Cable, and wife, Lillian,Russell, PA; nine grandchildren, Daniel Cable, and wife, Sil-via, Trevor Cable,and wife, Jenny, Matt Wolfe, and wife, Katrina, Vanessa Forbes Vila, and husband, Javier, Joel Forbes, Clayton Burke, and wife, Amber, Emily Burke Arthur,and husband, Ryan, Cole Burke, and James Cable; four great-grandchildren,Gabriel Vila, Asher Vila, Lily Arthur, and Jessie Husske; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Clifford was pre-ceded in death on March 16, 2011, by his wife, Nor-ma E. Cable, whom he mar-ried on April 9,1949, at the Cable Hollow Church;two brothers, Alvin Cable, and Paul Cable; and three sis-ters, Brenda Cable,Pauline Gern and Beatrice Smith.

Friends will be received at the Peterson – Blick Fun-eral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Tues-day, June 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Cable Hollow Church, 3157 Cable Hollow Road, Russell, on Wednesday, June 18 from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time, a funeral ser-vice will be held there, with Rev. Allan Jones, pastor, officiating. Burial will fol-low at Hale Cemetery, Ake-ley, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cable Hollow Church, the Cancer Care Center at Warren General, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, PA 16365, or a charity of choice.
