Need bike? Police holding auction
BY ROB ANDERSEN
Bicycles impounded by the City of Warren during 2012 and 2013 will be auctioned later this month.
Michelle Krogler, operations clerk for the city police department, said that 45 bikes will be displayed on the first floor of the Clark Street parking garage on Monday and Tuesday, June 16-17.
She said bid forms will be available, and members of Explorer Post 312 will be on hand to assist. Each bike will have a fluorescent green tag with a number to make filling out the forms easier.
The bikes were impounded in 2012 and 2013. Bikes from 2014 must be held for a year, so they will not be on the auction block, she explained. The bikes are held for that period to allow the owners to claim them.
Krogler explained the bikes were “essentially found property that were never claimed, and are not connected with any crimes.”
“Bids will be opened on Friday, June 20 at 10 a.m., and the winners will be notified by mail, but people may stop in (the municipal building) to check on their bid,” she said.
“A couple are Trek bikes, classics in the Tour de France style. There are a couple of Mongoose, and some Huffys,” she added.
