Dear editor:

I’d like to commend Kim Wilkins and her family for the valiant way they handled the emergency shooting that Kim miraculously survived. As of now, the gunperson has not revealed that he or she may have caused this unnecessary trauma for Kim and her family.

“It’s not the fault of the guns, it’s the fault of the person pulling the trigger.” That may be true, but the ease of obtaining guns without enough background checking and the prevalence of mentally disturbed people who aren’t found out until it is too late are getting worse. And I hate to think of guns being allowed to be carried in fast food places, bars, parks and teachers being armed with them. That means more times when bad incidents could happen.
