Get outdoors! In Marienville

The Allegheny National Forest will host an event on its Marienville Ranger District to coincide with National Get Outdoors Day. District Ranger Rob Fallon invites the public to visit its Beaver Meadows Recreation site near Marienville on Saturday, June 14, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and spend some time kayaking, hiking or just enjoying “being outdoors” with him and other members of the Forest staff.

The Beaver Meadows Lake is very shallow, but offers a unique kayaking experience (volunteers will have kayaks on hand if you do not have your own). Hikes will be led around the 2.5 mile Beaver Meadows loop, as well as other shorter hikes as needed. Bring a picnic lunch, bring the kids and spend some time kayaking, hiking, bird watching, learning to identify a few plants, and connect with nature and the people who manage it for you.
