ETHS open house Saturday

The Elk Township Historical Society (ETHS) will hold an open house on Saturday, June 14, from 1 to 4 p.m. Take your families and friends for a special tour of our restored 1870s One- room Schoolhouse, Farm Family Heritage Museum, Community Room and Library.

The newest exhibit is a collection of bottles donated by Warren County and Elk Township residents. Some of the displayed bottles have been discovered in a wall of a house on East Street in Warren or have held pharmaceuticals at the State Hospital. Others are milk bottles from area dairies, Scandia bottles found under a house or in a farm dump and more with interesting stories to tell.

ETHS always welcomes donations that illustrate life in Elk Township. Items can be placed permanently or for a specific period of time. As well as spending some of your afternoon at our open house there will be a garage sale in the Community Room and Library from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. A bake sale will also be held. All profits will help to support the ETHS mission of preserving Elk Township’s history of rural life in this region and providing a community center for youth, adults and seniors of today.

Open houses are planned for the second Saturday of each month, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., through October, as well as the November Election Day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
