Tara Sleeman is Dairy Princess
The Warren County Dairy Princess pageant was held May 18 at Lander United Methodist Church. Rachel Enos, 16, daughter of Jason and Michelle Enos of Sugar Grove, and Tara Sleeman, 17, daughter of Matt and Heather Wilcox, competed for the title of Dairy Princess. The afternoon started with Tiffany Jackson as mistress of ceremonies who introduced the past princesses in attendance, the State Alternate Princess Brooke George of Mercer County, Roberta Dixon a state board member, and Rachel Campbell, 2013-2014 Dairy Princess. Judges were Thad Sturgeon, Norma Baughman and Amanda Farell.
Rachel’s Power point presentation focused on refueling with chocolate milk. She talked about what is found in Pepsi, Coke, Vitamin Water and Gatorade and proved that milk is the drink to refuel your body. Her speech focused on how the dairy farmer gives back to his/her community.
Tara made a movie about Where does your milk come from? She featured Eisenhower High School students drinking milk and eating dairy products then filmed her family doing various chores around the farm. In her speech Tara talked about all the jobs required to be a farmer from veterinarians to janitors.
As the judges left to make their decision, Rachel Campbell addressed the crowd with her farewell speech and was presented with a gift of appreciation from the committee.
With such a tight competition for princess, the judges came back out and asked impromptu questions of each girl. It was then decided that Tara Sleeman would be the 2014-2015 Warren County Dairy Princess and Rachel Enos would represent Warren County as an alternate.
They are joined by Leah Curtis the 17-year-old daughter of Lee and Lauri Curtis of Columbus as Dairy Ambassador and Bryn Lindell, the 5-year-old daughter of Karen and Jared Lindell of Russell, as a Lil’ Miss.
