Flag Day at Suites

The Suites at Rouse will hold a Stars & Stripes picnic in celebration of Flag Day on Saturday, June 14. The picnic will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the Suites, 615 Rouse Ave., Youngsville. The menu will include hot dogs, hamburgers and all the usual picnic fixings. Ron Carrington and Touch of Gold will provide musical entertainment. This free event is open to the public.

Schall in concert

Dan Schall from Zelienople will be in concert at Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 15, at 6 p.m. All are welcome to come and enjoy Schall’s very special ministry. Light refreshments will be served after the concert.

Winners in bridge club play at the Woman’s Club of Warren Thursday were Connie Michell, first, and Suzy Painter, second.

Class to breakfast

Youngsville High School Class of 1961 will meet at Richard’s Restaurant in Youngsville on Wednesday, June 11, at 9 a.m. for its monthly breakfast. Classmates are invited to take a guest.

Class to lunch

Warren High School Class of 1950 will have lunch at noon Thursday, June 12, at Bettinas in Marienville. Participants can carpool from Warren Shurefine at 11 a.m.

Flower show planned

Hill & Dale Garden Club will hold its annual Flower Show & Luncheon on June 11 at Sugar Grove United Methodist Church Educational Building from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Anyone putting exhibits into the flower show must register between 10 and 11 a.m. that morning. Pre-registration cards are available from Mary Lou VanDorn; call 489-3929. The public is invited to take plants and fresh flowers to show as well as a design floral arrangement. They will be judged by Garden Club Federation Judges. Between 11 a.m. and noon, there will be a Brown Bag Auction, so members are urged to take something to be auctioned. The meeting also will be held during this time. Lunch will start around noon, and all members are asked to take a dish to share. The flower show will be open to the public from 1 to 2 p.m.

ServSafe offered

Preventing foodborne illness in a food establishment will be the focus of the ServSafe Training Course to be presented by the Penn State Extension on Monday, June 16 and 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 at the Penn State Extension Office in Youngsville. The ServSafe exam will be given on June 23 at noon.

The registration fee is $175 per person. Those who pass the exam at the end of the training receive a certificate from the National Restaurant Association and meet the requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for food safety training. ServSafe certification is valid for five years.
